New AML Verification Requirements (Effective 1 July)

By Mariana Williamson

The real estate industry is introducing strengthened Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CTF) compliance requirements, effective from 1 July. These updates impact all property sales and purchases in Australia, and apply to both buyers and sellers.

At Ray White Caloundra, we are committed to maintaining full compliance while ensuring a smooth and transparent property transaction process for all clients.

What Are the New AML Requirements?

Under the updated real estate compliance regulations, all parties involved in a property transaction may now be required to complete enhanced identity verification and provide additional supporting documentation earlier in the process.

These changes are part of broader national efforts led by AUSTRAC to strengthen financial transparency in the Australian property market.

What This Means for You

As a buyer or seller, you may notice the following updates:

  • Identity verification may be required earlier in your property transaction
  • Additional documentation may be required for company and trust property transactions
  • Secure digital verification may be completed via approved platforms or through your real estate agent

These updates are designed to improve fraud prevention, transaction security, and compliance in real estate.

Why These Changes Matter

The introduction of enhanced AML procedures helps:

  • Strengthen protection against financial crime in real estate
  • Improve transparency in the Australian property market
  • Ensure compliance with national AML/CTF legislation
  • Support safer and more secure property transactions for all parties

We’re Here to Help

We understand compliance changes can feel unfamiliar, but our team is here to guide you through every step of the process and ensure everything runs smoothly.
